Mega Man 5 Review

In an attempt to continue with the Mega Man Tradition, I'm going to look at Mega Man 5. Now, this one was different because of introducing beat and of course forming letters to get him. In the Anniversary Collection, instead of the Roman Numeral for five, you find the number at Crystal's Man Stage.
This is a game I know some people either like or hate. I personally enjoyed it and haven't really found too many Mega Man games that I didn't find something about them I liked. It kept the simple game play but added a little bit of a challenge. Rush now basically moves on autopilot depending on the direction you choose to go of course. I never minded that because it's just nothing too major.
The story is that "Proto Man" captured Dr. Light and Mega Man thinks he did it. Being the hero that he is, he must eliminate all eight robot masters and also gain an item called Beat. He was built by Dr. Cossack as a thank you from the previous game for saving his daughter. Once you get to the castle, you fight various Dark Man forms until you get to the last level. Then you fight what looks like Proto Man but isn't. You learn it's Dark Man and it was a plot by Wily to get revenge on him and then rule the world.
He gets his revenge but then you can use Beat if you have him as your ultimate weapon. He's like a homing missile and finds his target. Once you complete the game, you save Dr. Light, Proto Man blasts part of the ground while Mega Man is keeping it from crushing everyone including himself.
In conclusion, I say Mega Man 5 is worth playing and I hope it gets a Virtual Console release.
