Could a Legend of Zelda Movie Work?

This seems to be a question that I seem to thinking about every so often. As some probably can attest to it, video games and movies don't exactly mix well. The one that really stands out to be as being the biggest failure would be The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Does anyone remember actually seeing it? I do and it wasn't very good. Now, I think the big issue is that in my opinion Mario games can't be translated into a movie because of how simple the plot is. You rescue the Princess from Bowser and that's about it. Plus, there really wasn't anything overly complex and keep in mind that was during the NES Era where very few games could even get to that point.
Could a Legend of Zelda Movie Work?
I think now I can update some thoughts on it. I am still a bit undecided on it. Though the later games have added cut scenes and some details to the story, it would be however complicated if there is a time line on how it would go well together. That is assuming however that the plan is go into a whole story on the history of Hyrule. I do not know if they would do that.
I still personally don't believe live-action would really work. It just doesn't seem to fit personally. The characters wouldn't be as accurate and may need some extra items in order to do it justice. Can you imagine Ganondorf and some of his minions in live-action without the costumes not looking right? I can't and don't think it would work.
There is also the animated look. I think it would work as there could be less of a chance to really mess up the characters as long as the people doing it know who they are. That is always going to be a key and I just thought about that.
There is CG and that could work as well. Again, like animated there is less likely in my honest opinion of the characters being messed up. I don't think it's a bad option and can do a lot more than live action.
If Nintendo is involved with this, then it could become a solid movie. It all depends on presentation and who is involved and who isn't. I'll try to think positive and say it could work but there is no guarantee it would.
