Picking the Right 7th Generation Console
September 5th 2008 13:00
Do you get to a point where which console to get? Well, to be perfectly honest, it's not going to be easy. The PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii are the primary three in consoles and this can also be applied to the hand-held ones like the PSP and DS since they are the ones you mostly hear about. All systems have their strengths and weaknesses. Now, this piece below is out of date but it does have the same general idea. At this moment worldwide, Nintendo is actually winning in what could be a surprising turn of events. Does that mean it's the best console? I'm going to leave that up to you to decide.
Picking the Right 7th Generation Console
I always believe money will play a role because of what you can afford and what you can't. I believe the prices of the PS3 and possibly Xbox 360 have gone down so it might be more affordable. I think really you have to look at your own budget and see what is available money wise. If you want a certain system, you have to earn enough and also make sure you have your bills paid off and anything of importance. If that isn't the case, then you'll be fine.
One thing probably I want to add that I didn't have earlier would be the simple fact of trying a system out. Sometimes you can try them at stores like Wal-Mart. I never see anyone try out the Wii as it never seems to be available. At least it my area it isn't but it could be others, which is true.
Graphically I would say the Wii is the weakest and that's probably because Nintendo doesn't push graphics very far. The Xbox 360 and PS3 have better graphics if that's something you really want to look at.
The reputation of the companies is going to be very important. I've had systems from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft so they do work and have good systems. If you like the previous models, you may look into the newer systems. One thing about them is that there could be faulty systems and of course you have to take care of them so they don't breakdown so easily. Warranty is important because quite honestly if you have a good one, it could work to your advantage but you hope to never use it.
The last thing would be the features. Look at each of them and find some that you really like the most. Nintendo has the Virtual Console, Microsoft has Xbox Live, and Sony has Blu-Ray as the primary ones. I realize each have more but the whole purpose was to look at the main ones exactly.
I can't tell you which one is the best one to buy but that's something you'll have to decide for yourself. That's something I don't have the answer to and it's up for debate.
